FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.: Is there anything you would have liked to include on the CD but didn't?

: I would really love to include some interactive maps, and there is still a chance I might be able to get those done between now and the release date. Of course there is always some material that gets lost in the editing process and there were a few photographs that were in very bad shape that couldn't be edited no matter what I did. I have several newspaper articles I would liked to have included but those were all in rough shape as well. There is also some excellent video footage of Jack Ilfrey that I left out because there was a question about who really owned the rights to it, but that's about all I didn't wind up using.

Q.: What was your work schedule like while putting the CD together?

: I don't think there has been a day since I started that I haven't spent at least a couple of hours working on something related to this project, be it the actual html coding, research, scanning photos, building the companion website, creating the graphics, editing the audio, e-mailing what seemed like an endless number of e-mails and responses, searching the net for more leads, reading and more reading, trying to find sponsors and get some funding, dreaming up promotional ideas, the list goes on and on. Of course this is all in addition to my normal contracted work as a graphic artist and spending time with my family. Needless to say, my social life, at this point is nonexistent.

Q.: Do you have any plans to do similar CDs on the remaining two squadrons of the 20th. Fighter Group?

: Initially I did, but I've since heard there's a book on the history of the 77th. Fighter Squadron in the works, so there's really no need. A CD on the 55th Fighter Squadron, however, isn't totally marked off the list. I've actually done some preliminary research on yet another Fighter Group but Troy Wise - who's been extremely helpful throughout this whole project - gave me an excellent idea for the subject of my next work. That one would still be World War II related, but has very little to do with aviation. In fact it would be quite a daunting task, as I've never even looked into this particular facet of the war before, but I love a good challenge.
